National Natural History Museum

If the natural world interests you, then this is the museum for you. It is divided into three different areas: Minerals and Geology, Botany (Botanical Garden) and Zoology and Anthropology. Its vast collection has been gathered for years from all over the world for research and classification purposes, for this museum belongs to the University of Lisbon, so, apart from the museum’s cultural aims, there is a definite focus on research. As such, many masters and doctorate degrees have been based on its collections.

Opening hours: Tuedays to Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Weekends from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

How to get there: Tube/Underground – Rato on the yellow line

Buses – 58 and 100
Entry: depends on the exhibitions you want to visit but free between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
