Oceanário de Lisboa

Portugal, due to its location, has had a lasting and binding connection with the oceans. Nowhere is this more obvious than at this gigantic aquarium (opened in 1998) whose mission it is to educate, promote knowledge and present solutions to the public on how to change daily habits in order to conserve and protect the natural world. Here you will find marine species from all the world oceans and a huge (5000 cubic meters) central tank peacefully shared by more than 100 species, which include sharks, rays, chimaeras and bony fish. On the surface level you can watch the playful antics of a family of Alaskan sea-otters or search the tropical Indian forest for colourful birds. A truly unforgettable experience!
