Castelo de São Jorge (Saint George Castle)

Castelo de São Jorge (Saint George Castle)
Perched on one of Lisbon’s highest hills, the historical site of São Jorge Castle offers visitors breathtaking views of the city below. The Moors reconstructed the castle walls and occupied the area for over 400 years before the Reconquista in 1147, when Portugal’s first King was declared. The fortress was later transformed into the Royal Palace and Court, then classified as a National Monument in 1910.
