Around Lisbon there are several fountains, or chafarizes. This one is on the Praça Dom Pedro IV, better known by its former name, Praça do Rossio. Around the square are several of the capital?s famous buildings: The Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II (National Theatre), the Estação do Rossio (train station) and several buildings from the time when the Marquês de Pombal rebuilt Lisbon after the 1755 earthquake.
